Experience for yourself this magical educational app that has more than 5.000.000 engaged students around the world.
Nearpod is a must have application for teachers and schools that have access to a set of student devices. NearPod allows teachers to manage content on students' mobile devices. It combines presentation, collaboration, and real-time assessment tools into one integrated solution.
Nearpod allows teachers to:
1. Create Content:
Teachers log in to www.nearpod.com to create multimedia presentations with interactive features such as quizzes, videos, polls, drawing tools, and more.
They can also download featured presentations from certified publishers and fellow educators.
In the classroom, teachers log in to the Nearpod iPad app to share content with their students and manage the flow of the lecture. Students use the Nearpod app on their iOS devices or Macs to receive curricular content, participate in activities and submit responses.
Teachers can see students’ answers in real time on the Nearpod app. Additionally, teachers can log in to www.nearpod.com to access post-session data and obtain detailed activity reports.
From the website description: “Socrative is a smart student response system that empowers teachers by engaging their classrooms with a series of educational exercises and games. Our apps are super simple and take seconds to login. Socrative runs on tablets, smartphones, and laptops. Teachers login through their device and select an activity, which controls the flow of questions and games. Students simply login with their device and interact real time with the content. Student responses are visually represented for multiple choice, true/false and Short Answer questions. For pre- planned activities a teacher can view reports online as a Google spreadsheet or as an emailed Excel file.
Poll Everywhere allows teachers to ask multiple-choice questions or open ended questions and have student text in their response. Teachers control when a poll is started or stopped. With text moderation for free text polls, you stay in control of approving which responses will be displayed on a public screen. This is essential when results are going to be shared in real-time with a large group or in an outdoor or public venue. Few audience response systems give you this valuable feature.
Charts update live as people respond
There are four ways to vote: sending a SMS text message, using a smartphone's web browser, sending a "tweet" on Twitter, or on a computer via the web. To vote with text messages, the audience follows the on-screen instructions and sends a text message with a short keyword (e.g. "72612") to our short code, 22333 (or an international number if outside the US. When Poll Everywhere receives a response, the results are updated on our animated charts (for multiple choice polls) or our text wall (for free text polls). You may decide to project the live results on screen for some types of events, or just view the results live on your mobile phone.
Kahoot is a program very similar to Socrative, but with a twist! Using our simple and speedy ‘drag n drop’ creation tool, create and manage ‘Kahoots’ in the form of quizzes, surveys or polls related to specific topics; either asking quick questions ‘on the go’ to get feedback or opinion, or more in depth questions for formative assessment. Content can be shared with educators, learners or colleagues globally.
Launch Kahoots on the screen at the front of the room, and learners join through their personal devices. In real-time and with gaming elements to increase engagement and motivation, learners answer questions through their personal devices. Educators get an overview of the current knowledge levels of everyone in the room for formative assessment, and can adapt their teaching accordingly.
Either collaboratively or individually, and motivated to gain a deeper knowledge of specific topics, learners are challenged to create their own Kahoots in the form of quizzes. Through their personal device, learners think up and answer their own questions through thorough research and the collation and/or self creation of imagery and video. Their learning is reinforced by thinking up potential wrong answers to questions, as well as the right ones.
Learners share their new found knowledge by playing their Kahoot back to other learners. Educators assess the quality of questions they are asking, whilst the other learners answer the questions through the powerful classroom engagement tool.
